weekly design inspiration: the spring edit

Spring always brings with it a sense of clarity — that moment when the sun lingers a little longer, the light shifts just right, and everything feels ready for a refresh. In design, it’s also the perfect time to re-evaluate what’s still working, what’s feeling tired, and what’s making us fall in love with our homes all over again.

Here’s our take on what’s in and what’s out for Spring 2025 — from colour stories to materials to the way we live inside our spaces.

what’s in

This season is all about depth and quiet confidence. Earthy, sunbaked tones — clay, ochre, olive, rust — are bringing warmth back into our interiors. Materials are rich with texture and story: unlacquered brass, oxidized bronze, reclaimed wood, and handmade tile that feels one-of-a-kind. Built-ins are having a thoughtful revival — from custom breakfast nooks to integrated shelving — creating seamless, functional beauty. Furniture is softer and more sculptural, with curves and organic lines taking the edge off. And in every space, we’re seeing a return to calm — spa-like bathrooms, layered textiles, and natural light designed to slow us down.

what’s out

What’s fading is anything that feels overly polished, overly perfect, or lacking soul. Cool grays and greige palettes are making way for warmth and character. High-shine finishes and mass-produced furnishings that feel disconnected from their surroundings are losing ground. Statement pieces that shout are being replaced by those that whisper with intention. The era of oversized, underutilized furniture is behind us — we’re designing with purpose now. And while minimalism isn’t gone, the stark, clinical version of it no longer resonates. Instead, it’s being reimagined with softness, texture, and personality.

At Candace Plotz Design, we don’t chase trends — but we do believe in evolving with the seasons. The most beautiful homes are the ones that reflect where you are right now, while still honouring where you’ve been.

If you’re feeling ready for a refresh this spring, we’d love to help you shape what’s next — thoughtfully designed and beautifully executed.
